Roy Keane
Keane moved to United in 1993 for a then British record transfer fee of £3.75 million, nowadays he is looked upon as one of Manchester United’s greatest ever players. He skippered the Red’s to their infamous treble in the 1998-99 season as they won the premiership, FA Cup and Champions league. He was voted PFA player of the year in 2000 thanks to his fine footballing displays. Keane’s career at Old Trafford lasted 12 years, between 1993-2005, where he made 481 appearances and scored 51 goals.
David Beckham
Beckham made a big impact in Manchester during the late 90’s and early 21st century. He helped them to winning many domestic trophies and champions league success. He was a key part of the Manchester United starting line up which won the 1999 champions league final. He participated in every champions league game of the 1998-99 campaign and his great performance in the final helped United to victory. In August 2003, David Beckham moved to Real Madrid where he has been a permanent fixture in the famous Spanish club since joining. Beckham has also been in the media spotlight for a number of years, considered a global fashion icon. |
