The 1950’s proved to be a mixed time for the Reds. The started the decade off, finishing in second position in the league. They were in similar form the following season, once again finishing runners up. They finished in 8th place during the 1952-53 season. The following two season went decently well for the Reds, despite failing to win any cup competitions they finished them off in 4th and 5th respectively.
The 1956-57 season witnessed the Reds reach the FA Cup final, however they lost the final, likewise the following season as they once again embarked on a great cup run. 1958 proved to be a very sad year for anyone connected to Manchester United and all football fans, as several United players were in a fatal airplane crash, including their young superstar, Duncan Edwards.
